Having grown up with a family full of hair dressers, I am no stranger to hair dye. I have actually been dying my hair since I was about 17. At first it was for FUN, which quickly turned into a need. See, I am a lucky girl who had gray hair run in her family. Since I refuse (even at 40) to admit it, I am gray and need to dye my hair every month.
I have used various hair dyes throughout my life from over the counter boxes to Colorists in Manhattan and everything in between. As of late, I have been using a box with a kick of professional color mixed in to get the desired shade of red I was looking for. The problem with that is, I never measure and the color was never the same. I know I am not alone in this frustration. Even for all of those women who get their hair “done” at a salon, the hair stylist can mix the wrong amount of color and give you a different shade or not put in enough high lights or low lights. Then you still have to pay her whether you like it or not.

So let me explain why we are different. As I said previously, I have been around hair dye most of my life, this is the first time I have ever seen this amazing system that includes a PRE-TREATMENT and a POST TREATMENT. Yes, there are 3 steps to this system.

1. Protective Pre-Treatment. This goes on your dry unwashed hair. DO NOT apply on roots. This will stay on your hair during the coloring process.
2. Permanent Crème Color. Mix the Color Tube with the Developer Lotion and apply to hair. Leave the color in for 30 minutes. If you have stubborn gray hair I recommend 35 minutes. Rinse with warm water until hair runs clear.
3. Post Treatment. Spread the entire contents of the packet to your hair. Wait at least 2 minutes before rinsing this out with luke warm water.
You do not need to wash your hair in this system. You can wash it as normal the following day. The product will cleanse your hair.

My evaluation… Simply… I love it. I used color 5.65 Medium Mahogany Brown. What amazed me first, for the first time ever; I did not have RED stains on the towel. I purposely used a white towel to see the amount of color that would come off. NONE! It was wet and white even after I wrapped my hair in it for about 10 minutes. The next test was my husband. Yes, my husband, not to tell me if he liked the color, but rather the smell. See in my world, after I dyed my hair, he would not sleep to close because of the smell the other color left behind. It would take about 2 or 3 days before he would get close again! So… he simply said… “WOW, it smells really nice, like you didn’t just walk out of a salon.” This was a nice thing to hear from him. He is not the mushy type, but appreciates the lack of smell. Finally… longevity. How long did the color last? Simply put, I waited 5 weeks to dye my hair again and the “gray halo” was barely visible when I did finally do it!

This is me before I dyed my hair. I did want to make sure that you all saw the “gray halo” in the picture. It is like pure silvery white for me. I hope that one day when I decide to let me hair turn gray… It does keep this nice shade… But for now!! Avon’s Hair Dye is for ME!

See how nicely the color changed? No more “Gray Halo”! Even the frizz is gone. I have to admit though I did add a touch of Avon’s Lotus Shield frizz control to my hair on the ends. My hair has barely faded in the following few weeks the color was still this shade with very little fading!

According to all the “HOT” magazines the Smoky Eye is this year’s “HOT” trend. So, how to does the average woman make their eyes look like a professional applied it for them?! Easy… I will tell you the 5 steps you need to complete this look!
As an Avon Rep, all the items I am going to using will be from our make-up line. So let’s start!
As with any work of art you need to start … At the beginning.

Step ONE:
Prep your eye lids. This is accomplished with your concealer. Avon has some amazing concealer sticks which are a customer favorite.
When you apply the concealer, you MUST cover your entire eyelid. You want to blend it in and you can even use a loose powder or pressed powder to set it.

Step TWO:
Line your eyes. You can use the liner of your choice. Line the entire top and bottom of your eyes as close to the lashes as possible.
If you are using a pencil make dots along the lid and then connect the dots… It is an easier way to make sure your lines are straight.
If you are using a liquid liner remember to “dab and drag” it along the lashes for a straight line.
**If you have small eyes, you can line your lines from the mid-point to the end to make your eyes appear bigger**
I love Avon Glimmersticks for this! They glide very easy and since you do not have to sharpen them with a pencil sharpener, no rough edges. One of the advantages of the Glimmerstick, just a small twist and it is sharp again! Glimmersticks are also a great product when you want to “smudge” the lines and blend it into the shadow in the next step.

Step THREE:
Use the darkest shade of shadow that you are going to be using and either with a liner brush, q-tip, or your finger to smudge the liner to soften the sharp edge.
The smoky eye is about dramatic; you don’t want anyone to be able to see the layers of elements. They should all blend together flawlessly.

Step FOUR:
This is the shadow step; so have fun and play with the colors you have.
Using the Darkest color again you are going to blend it into the crease of your eyes. So, when your lid is closed in the middle section of the lid. This is like an outline as to where to apply the other colors.
Take the next darkest shade and cover your lid above your lashes to the darkest crease you made in the previous step. You want to leave a small area at the corners of your eyelid exposed to add the lightest shade.
Take your third shade (which should have a bit of a shimmer too) and add it to the top of your lid and into your brow.
With your lightest shade cover the corners of your eyes and slightly under your bottom lashes from the corner to the about the start of where your mascara goes on the bottom lashes.

Step FIVE:
Apply your favorite Mascara. MY absolute favorite mascara for this look is Avon’s SUPER Shock. It makes your eyes look as sultry as the whole smoky eye look!
You’re DONE!

So, let’s examine the three steps more closely.

Sell

This is an area that you can customize to your personal style and comfort level. I can tell you with all of the information available to your customers; you really need to know what you are talking about. Avon has Beauty of Knowledge Classes in the Rep Suite. These classes are proven to give you the knowledge you need to be informed and confident in your assistance to your customers. Women are more aware of what they are putting on their face and skin, so let them know you can offer “expert advice and guidance”. When you sit with your customer, there is one piece of advice I can give… Forget about yourself completely. You need to focus on your customers’ needs, not yours.

*A proven fact * Salespeople who listen, sell more!

A good rule of thumb is to listen about 70% of the time and speak only 30%. In that 30% you should be offering a solution. Find out what she wants in her products and listen to any concerns she has. It is OK to not know an answer right then and there, but FIND the answer and follow up with her.

Another method of selling is what Avon calls the POWER of 3. What is the power of 3? This is when you speak to at least 3 people a day about Avon. This can be used with SELL-ing Avon’s products or even when you are building your team and you are SHARE-ing the opportunity.

Whether you’re a sales veteran or a novice you can make this work. You need to first get your customers attention. You can do this in many ways, a sale, a limited time offer, her favorite color in a new item. Then, you need to build her desire for the item either to try or own whatever it is you are selling. This is a great use of your samples. When they can see it and feel it and sometimes smell it they want it. To finish the sale you must encourage action… make the sale!

Share

When we talk about sharing the opportunity with others we are referring to prospecting. What does prospecting mean? Anyone you talk to about Avon IS prospecting. When you offer the world class products, also mention that you are also looking for business partners. As you grow your team of Rep’s you must understand that they are in business for themselves. You are also in business for yourself, but NOT by yourself. So, you are not looking for team members you are looking for business partners. This is a distinct difference. Some will hesitate when you tell them to join your team, but will more apt to listen when they realize that they are in control of everything that they do and what they can earn. So, in reality, someone you recruit to join Avon might actually surpass you in sales or in recruiting. Does that mean you are doing a bad job?! NO. That means her goals are different than you are. You would need to do a reality check in the mirror and say “what do I want MY business to do for me”. Then write them down and reach for your goals. Share your ideas and successes with others in your downline. Let them learn from your success and your failures. When you are working as a team you build a strong and powerful force of Reps who will support each other.

Show

Show is a twofold component to your business. When we say show to a customer is it showing them the benefits of the world class beauty products. We want to show them samples and ideas on how to make their skin or hair look better. We want to listen to their needs and offer support and suggestions. You want to know all you can about the products and be able to recommend product that will enhance what they are looking for.

When we say show to your downline, we are talking about showing them how to be successful with their business. Show them what you are doing to achieve your goals. They are new to the business; they will only do what they see you do. So, make it count. Show them how to find customers and recruits. Hold webinars or meeting to discuss ideas and show them that above all else that you care about them and their success.

    Well, we are in Campaign 7 which starts the Training Leader program. I was the only one selected from the entire district of over 725+ Avon Representatives. I am very proud and humbled by this
